What to do in Bristol this Valentine's Weekend

As Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday this year why not make a weekend of it? There's plenty going on in Bristol to choose from, here's my personal favourite picks of things to do this weekend... for all you lovers out there!

Friday 13th Feb // At-Bristol - After Hours: Love & Luck (tickets £7)  // A date at At Bristol science centre is a great idea for something alternative to do together at any time, but their after hours events sound like the perfect way to really enjoy it as you get to look around and play with all the exhibitions without those pesky little people about! This time the theme is love and luck (it is Friday the 13th as well as Valentine's after all) so as well as the usual exhibits there are special features for the evening including the science behind alcohol and attractiveness and have-a-go heart dissection!

Saturday 14th Feb // The Cube Multiplex: Disco Love (tickets £2 on the door) // More up for going out with a group? Or maybe you and your beau love a good old boogie together! Either way The Cube knows how to put on a good night and I'm certain this weekend's Disco Love event will be no exception!

Sat 14th & Sun 15th // Brief Encounter at Harts Bakery @ Temple Meads (tickets £20) // Brief Encounter is one of those classic films I feel like I know all about but have never watched - I even think I have seen it's iconic final scene a number of times (darn those '100 Greatest...' style shows!) As it is set in a train station and is widely considered one of the most romantic films of all time watching Brief Encounter snuggled up under the arches of Temple Mead Station on Valentine's weekend sounds just about perfect. The ticket cost includes Hart's Bakery Salt Beef on Rye and a Salted Caramel Brownie and what says romance better than salt beef & salted carmel...not.even.joking!

Sat 14th // Valentine's at Clifton Lido // (£50 a head) // If your looking to splash out then I highly recommend Valentine's at one of Bristol's most romantic locations, the Clifton Lido. Go all out and book a swim - including use of the sauna, steam room & hot tube - followed by a delicious dinner of either tapas at the pool side or choose three courses from the a la carte menu.

Have you got any thing lurrrrrvly planned?

  1. I love the idea of Brief Encounter at Hart's - such a lovely thing to do!
That's the heart bit of my brain saying that; the head bit of my brain says we've got the film on DVD anyway and we could almost recreate the whole even at home (albeit without the railway arches) - plus I think the other half would have a fit if I spent £40! Still a fab idea though :-) xx
